Beach Sprints, the sprint format of coastal rowing, is a head-to-head elimination style of racing, with a short sprint along the beach, a 250m slalom row around buoys, and a 180-degree turn before rowing back-to-back to the beach and sprint to the finish line.
Competitions are structured such that athletes who progress further are required to race multiple times within a short time window. This discipline of rowing tests your power and strength, as well as coastal navigation skills and performance under fatigue.
Whilst a relatively new format, Jersey athletes have had many successes at home and abroad.

British Rowing Beach Sprint Championships 2023
The event forms part of the British Rowing Offshore Championships and is being hosted in Exmouth, England from 28-30 July 2023.
Athletes from the Club will be competing in CW1x, CO1x and CMx2x.
Rowing for Jersey – Home International Rowing (HIR) Beach Sprints
The HIR Beach Sprints is an annual challenge match between Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales using the World Rowing Beach Sprints race format. Jersey has been invited as one of the competing nations for the 2023 event.
The 2023 HIR Beach Sprints will be hosted by Wales on Saturday 9th September 2023 in Saundersfoot.
